Auditions!
SBMT is excited to announce AUDITIONS for the first two productions of our 2014-15 season. Auditions will be held May 3 & 4 for Kiss Me, Kate and June 7 & 8 for Curtains. (details follow).

KISS ME, KATE

Performing September 27th to October 18th, 2014.
Combining Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” with Cole Porter’s brilliant music and lyrics, KISS ME, KATE is an irresistible classic that has been delighting audiences for over 60 years, running over 1,000 performances on Broadway and winning Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Score. It’s a play-within-a-play where each cast member’s onstage life is complicated by what is happening off stage. And that’s especially true of the large-than-life stars, Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi, whose tempestuous romance has more tumbles and turnabouts than even Shakespeare could have foreseen. Packed with enduring hit songs like “Another Op’nin’, Another Show”; “So in Love”; “Too Darn Hot”; “Wunderbar”; and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare,” KISS ME, KATE is funny, melodious, and sophisticated musical comedy entertainment.

CURTAINS

Performing January 24th to February 14th, 2015
From the writing team of John Kander and Fred Ebb (“Cabaret,” “Chicago”), CURTAINS is a hilarious musical send-up of backstage murder mystery plots. Set in 1959 Boston, it chronicles the fallout when the supremely untalented star of “Robbin’ Hood of the Old West” is murdered during her opening night curtain call. Everyone in the cast and crew is a suspect, and it’s up to Lt. Frank Cioffi, a police detective who moonlights as a musical theatre fan, to save the production, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens—all without getting killed himself. This bright, brassy comedy has plot twists and revelations worthy of the cleverest whodunits, along with plenty of memorable musical numbers from one of Broadway’s most talented songwriting duos. Can you solve this musical mystery before the detective does?
