The summer SBMT Membership Meeting was a rousing success! On August 14, members sampled delicious tacos while participating in a Volunteer Fair to learn about different ways they can help the organization. Volunteer opportunities include helping with set building, creating a costume and prop database, fund-raising, marketing, accounting, working the lobby, helping to produce shows, and more. If you would like to know more about any of these opportunities, contact the SBMT Board at chairperson@southbaymt.com

After the fair, new Board Chair Barbara Heninger held the meeting. Secretary emeritus Janet Miller and Chief Financial Officer Braden Taylor provided their reports, and Season Selection Committee Chair Walter Mayes discussed the 12 show choices for the 2017-18 season. Barbara Reynolds (soon to be seen in CITY OF ANGELS) won the raffle for two tickets to any opening night of the season. The entire event was hosted by Board members Dan Singletary and Braden Taylor, and a lovely time was had by all. Thanks to all who participated for making the event a success!

City Under Construction for Angels…

Meanwhile, members of the CITY OF ANGELS cast and crew worked hard to build the sets for the two-shows-in-one production. The sets depict both the ‘real’ world of a Los Angeles screenwriter, and that of his alter ego in the ‘reel’ world of a hard-boiled film noir.

Set models for the 'real' (color) and 'reel' (black and white) worlds.

Set models for the ‘real’ (color) and ‘reel’ (black and white) worlds.

Cast members play multiple roles in both worlds, and it all comes to a climax when the screenwriter is confronted by his own creations. Be sure to get your tickets now for the opening night gala on Saturday September 17, 2016 at 8:00pm. Tickets for the entire run are available at www.southbaymt.com/shows/cityofangels.html.
